Artisan Foods

Enjoy food, glorious Cornish food!

There’s nothing that can compare to the taste of freshly-baked bread, locally-caught fish cooked to perfection or still-warm scones lavishly coated with homemade strawberry jam and clotted cream

Pop in to a deli, visit a Farmers’ Market or head to Cornish Market World in St Austell to whet your appetite and pick up a few local delicacies.

We also love The Cornish Food Box Company, who work with over 150 Cornish producers and stock a mouth-watering range of local delights. Tempt your taste buds with a visit their shop in Truro or order online and they’ll deliver the finest local food and drink to your door.

Cornish cheese

Cheese lovers will be in heaven with a range of Cornish cheeses to choose from including Cornish Blue, Yarg (a Cornish cheese made from grass rich milk and wrapped in stinging nettles) and Cornish Brie.

Cornish pasties

No holiday to Cornwall is complete without at least one Cornish pasty, preferably eaten hot with a view of the sea (just watch out for the seagulls).

Ask a Cornish person who bakes the best pasties in Cornwall and they’ll probably say their mum – recipes for Cornish pasties have been handed down through families for generations. The crown for ‘best Cornish pasty’ is hotly contended, with the World Pasty Championships taking place at the Eden Project each year.

Top tipples

Ale enthusiasts will be in heaven — Cornwall is a hotbed of micro-breweries. If spirits are more your thing, try Tarquin’s Gin or Elemental Gin, both distilled in Cornwall.

For cider lovers, a visit to Healey’s Cyder Farm is a must. Or choose from range of artisan Cornish ciders, wines and juices from Polgoon Vineyard and Cider Orchard, all made on their farm in Penzance.

Just down the road from Bosinver, Bosue Vineyard is a family run vineyard which produces white, rosĂ© and sparkling wines and offers behind-the-scenes vineyard tours. And for a special occasion, splash out on one of Camel Valley’s award-winning wines.
