There's so much at Bosinver for four legs to enjoy!

We know that your pooch is a non-negotiable part of your family and they’ll get the warmest welcome here at Bosinver. Almost half of our cottages are dog friendly so you’re sure to find the perfect spot for everyone to enjoy. And from our 30 acres to the wonderful dog friendly beaches of Cornwall nearby, there’s something for those wet noses to explore right on the doorstep!

Please note: We are unable to accept puppies or dogs under 1 year old. During Whitsun week and our main summer holidays, we do not allow any dogs on site.

A few things for you to know

Can we bring our dog to Bosinver?

Yes — dogs over one year old are welcome in around half of our cottages, including the Farmhouse (sleeps 12), Jack’s Barn (sleeps 8), and several smaller cottages such as Hillside and Pear, at certain times of the year. Check out those with a paw symbol which means they accept dogs.

What's on site for dogs?

Plenty! Bosinver has 30 acres of woodland and meadow, with on-site walks down to the lake and village, and every dog-friendly cottage has outdoor space. We also keep a book of tried-and-tested Cornish dog walks in the office, written by a local dog owner, which you’re very welcome to borrow.

Are there any restrictions on which dogs can come?

We’re not able to accept puppies or dogs under 1 year old and we do not accept at all during Whitsun week or our main summer holidays.

How many dogs can we bring, and is there a charge?

You’re welcome to bring two small dogs, or one medium-sized dog, per cottage, and there’s a charge of £40 per dog for your stay.

Are the gardens enclosed for dogs?

No, cottage gardens have their own private outdoor space but aren’t enclosed or gated, so you’ll want to bring leads. Each dog-friendly cottage does have a porch (or, in the Farmhouse, a tiled kitchen) where you’re welcome to leave your dog in their crate.

Do we need to keep our dog on a lead around the farm?

Yes please — we have free-range ducks and hens, plus livestock in nearby fields, so we do ask that you keep your dog on a lead around the farm itself. We’re happy to point you towards plenty of lead-free walks close by instead.

What walks are there for dogs, on site and nearby?

On site, there are walks across the fields down to the lake and village where dogs can run free, plus woodland to explore. We’re also about 10 minutes from some of Cornwall’s dog-friendly beaches, and keep a book of tried-and-tested Cornish dog walks in the office — written by a local dog owner — which you’re welcome to borrow.

What if we need to go out without our dog?

We have a kennel enclosure where your dog can stay safely for a few hours, or we can put you in touch with a local pet-sitter — best to book this one in advance. Please do not leave your dog alone in your cottage when you go out.

Is there anything provided for dogs during our stay?

Yes — a doggy wash for muddy paws, plus treats and poo bags, all included as part of your stay.

Bosinver is set in 30 acres of Cornish countryside and there are walks across the fields down to the lake and village where dogs can run free, If you venture away from Bosinver we can recommend some fantastic dog friendly walks just a stone’s throw away.

your cottage

All our cottages have their own private outdoor space, but please note that they aren’t enclosed or gated so you’ll need to bring their leads. Each of the dog friendly cottages also has a porch (or in the case of the Farmhouse, a tiled kitchen) and we are happy for you to leave dogs in their dog crates in the the porch.

dog friendly beaches

We’re just 10 minutes from some of Cornwall’s most beautiful dog friendly beaches, and fantastic days out for the whole family. There’s really nothing better than seeing those wet noses covered in sand and tails wagging in the sea breeze, trust us!

Around the farm

Whilst dogs are so very welcome here, we do have free range ducks and hens as well as livestock in the nearby fields so please do come prepared to keep your pooch on a lead. We can recommend loads of lead free walks not far away, please pop into reception.

Woodland adventures

If your hound loves to mooch through the leaves and keep cool under the trees, there are not only wonderful woodlands here on site but we’ve got lots of options nearby. We’ve also got an excellent book of tried and tested Cornish dog walks written by the owner of a lovely dalmatian called Toby. Just ask in the office if you’d like to borrow it.

pet sitters

If you have to go out without your dog, we’ve got a kennel enclosure where you can leave them safely with us for a few hours, or you can get in touch with a local pet-sitter (best to book in advance).
