Free days out in Cornwall
- Porthluney Cove is our favourite local beach, a 20 min drive from Bosinver. Part of the Caerhays Estate, this is an excellent, south-facing safe family beach, with plenty of room for beach games. There are rock pools to explore, and it doesn’t get crowded, even in summer. There’s easy parking, right behind the beach, a seasonal cafe, toilet facilities and dogs are welcome all year round.
- Polkerris Beach a 25 min drive from Bosinver, is a hidden gem. It combines an idyllic sandy cove with stunning coastline and water sports facilities, click here for info on activities and equipment hire. Polkerris is an excellent choice for families of all ages, offering open water swimming, rock pooling, stand-up paddle boarding, and kayaking. The beach is safe and clean and there’s a great pub and restaurant, Sam’s on the beach and The Rashleigh Inn serving top burgers and local ales.
- Mevagissey Harbour is a short 15 min drive from Bosinver and is great for crabbing within the inner harbour wall. Crabbing is a fun family activity and we have nets and buckets here for you to use. Rumour has it that the Mevagissey crabs are partial to bacon from the local butchers!

- Falmouth is a 45 min drive from Bosinver and hosts Falmouth Week between 9th – 18th August, featuring fleet racing for yachts and dayboats in the waters of Falmouth Bay. Falmouth Week is a major attraction for sailors and landlubbers to enjoy the many daytime and evening events in the picturesque seaside town. You can expect family friendly activities in the heart of the Falmouth town from markets to carnivals, RNLI Fun Day, Wing walkers, Red Arrows and fireworks display!
Paid days out in Cornwall
- Cornwall’s giant water slip and slide, over 440′ long, its the longest in the UK! They have four lanes of slides and include everything you need, inflatable hoops, rings and bodyboards. We recommend taking a wetsuit or if you don’t have one, you can hire one there. Situated between Newquay and Padstow, its a 30 minute drive from Bosinver and its super fun for all the family. There is a seating area for spectators , takeaway food and drinks if you don’t want to take part. Click here for opening hours and prices, it does get busy so we recommend booking ahead if you can.
- Experience Rogue Theatre’s magical journey through the beautiful Tehidy woods situated on the North Coast, a 50 minute drive from Bosinver. Step into the fairy tale forest and discover the magic! At the heart of the woodland, Rogue’s immersive theatre takes you through the seasons with compelling story telling of rebel fairies, wild princesses, witches and wolves. Enjoy the thrill of outdoor theatre, celebrate and dance on the stage at the end of the show with the fairies and rogues! - Lusty Glaze beach is a privately owned cove at the North end of Newquay bay, just before Porth beach and is a 30 minute drive from Bosinver. This year it’s hosting a number of seaside cinema events which can be viewed in daylight. Moana, Matilda the musical, The Greatest Showman, and Encanto are just some of the family favourite movies showing this year. These are ticketed events with access to the beach via a long flight of steep steps, this is the only route down, therefore only carry down, what you can carry back up! The beach carpark is situated at the top of the steep steps which makes it a little easier for your little ones. - Camel Creek Family Adventure Park, situated between Newquay and Wadebridge, a 30 minute drive from Bosinver. This is great for all the whole family with animal encounters, indoor play, fantastic family rides, carousels, pony express, rollercoasters and water slides. Be sure to take spare clothes with you as you will get very wet! Some of the rides have a minimum height restriction of 90cm but there are plenty of toddler rides to compensate.
