Free days out in Cornwall

  • Porthluney Cove is our favourite local beach, a 20 min drive from Bosinver. Part of the Caerhays Estate, this is an excellent, south-facing safe family beach, with plenty of room for beach games. There are rock pools to explore, and it doesn’t get crowded, even in summer. There’s easy parking, right behind the beach, a seasonal cafe, toilet facilities and dogs are welcome all year round.

  • Polkerris Beach a 25 min drive from Bosinver, is a hidden gem. It combines an idyllic sandy cove with stunning coastline and water sports facilities, click here for info on activities and equipment hire. Polkerris is an excellent choice for families of all ages, offering open water swimming, rock pooling, stand-up paddle boarding, and kayaking. The beach is safe and clean and there’s a great pub and restaurant, Sam’s on the beach and The Rashleigh Inn serving top burgers and local ales.

  • Mevagissey Harbour is a short 15 min drive from Bosinver and is great for crabbing within the inner harbour wall. Crabbing is a fun family activity and we have nets and buckets here for you to use. Rumour has it that the Mevagissey crabs are partial to bacon from the local butchers!
