Heading to the beach with toddlers in Cornwall can be a joyous and memorable experience, but it also requires careful planning to ensure a stress-free and enjoyable day for both you and your little ones. From sun protection to entertainment, having the right beach essentials can make all the difference. In this blog, we’ll explore the must-have items that will help you create cherished moments and a happy day out at the beach with your toddlers.

1. Sunscreen and Sun Protection
It goes without saying the sun’s rays can be harsh on delicate toddler skin, so sun protection is of utmost importance. Invest in a high-quality sunscreen specifically formulated for children, with an SPF of at least 30. Remember to apply it generously and frequently, especially after swimming. Wide-brimmed hats, UV-protective sunglasses, and lightweight, long-sleeved clothing can provide additional protection against the sun’s harmful rays.

2. Beach Tent or Parasol
Create a shaded sanctuary for your little ones by bringing along a beach tent, canopy, or lightweight parasol. This will not only shield them from direct sunlight but also provide a comfortable place for napping, feeding or naps during the day. Here at Bosinver we also have a selection of windbreaks to borrow which you might find handy.

3. Plenty of Hydration and Snacks
Playing on the beach can be dehydrating, so make sure to carry ample water and hydrating drinks suitable for toddlers. Keep the snacks simple and easy to eat, such as fruits, crackers, or finger foods, to keep hunger at bay and energy levels up.

4. Beach Toys and Games
Toddlers love to explore and play in the sand. Pack a bucket and spade, to keep them entertained for hours. Beach balls, frisbees, and kites are also great options to engage them in fun and interactive activities. At Bosinver we have a shed with a selection of beach friendly toys and games to borrow whilst you’re staying with us so you don’t even have to bring them all on holiday with you making things super easy.

5. Beach-friendly Stroller, toddler backpack carriers or beach trolley
Navigating the beach with toddlers can be tiring for their little legs. Consider bringing a beach-friendly stroller or a beach trolley to transport them and your beach gear more easily. We have a few toddler back packs available too which you might find super handy to borrow for your day out.

6. Loose change
Most car parks in Cornwall finally take card payments (things always take longer to catch on down here) however, there are the odd few that still only take cash. There’s even a handful of places that have parking attendants who will take your payment and even direct you to a space – now that’s service! Not only that you might want some cash for handmade Cornish souvenirs, free range eggs or local honey that can be spotted in seaside villages or down country lanes.

7. Beach Blanket or Towels
Having a beach blanket or towels to sit on provides a clean and comfortable space for snack time, playtime, or simply relaxing on the sandy beaches.

8. Patience and a Sense of Adventure
Last but not least, bring along your patience and a sense of adventure. Toddlers are naturally curious and might want to explore everything the beach has to offer. Embrace their curiosity, and remember that sometimes the best moments are the unexpected ones.

A day at the beach with toddlers in Cornwall can be a magical experience filled with laughter and joy. By packing these essential items and preparing for a fun-filled day, you can create lasting memories for both you and your little ones. From sun protection to beach toys, these essentials will help ensure a delightful and happy outing for the entire family. So, grab your beach gear, slather on the sunscreen, and get ready for a wonderful day of sand, surf, and smiles with your toddlers in Cornwall!
