An New Year Update from Paul

Man and two kids sitting on an old tractor

Well, here we are again, at the end of another year at Bosinver, and what a year it has been. We were not sure what to expect as we started the year following much turmoil and a massive thank you to everyone of you that chose to stay with us in 2022. We have had a brilliant time with you all. This in combination with some fabulous Cornish weather (mostly!) reminded me, how magical this place really is. Thankfully you agreed!

Weโ€™ve had wonderful feedback from you about how much you enjoyed your family holiday with us. We always feel that our guests describe it best and one of my favourite reviews summed it up perfectly, written by the King family.

“Before we came I read about the magic of Bosinver but never could I have dreamt that such a magical place existed, we have well and truly found an absolute gem of a holiday destination and I fear no where else will ever quite match up again, Iโ€™ve already said to the hubby I would gladly trade in our abroad holidays to return to Bosinver instead and weโ€™ve been on some epic foreign trips.

The whole place has such a lovely family feel and we were lucky enough to meet the famous Nanny Pat, our son Eden absolutely loves farmer Dave, Paul and Paul, all extremely friendly and welcoming and they really canโ€™t do enough for you to ensure that your stay is magical, memorable and that you have everything you could possibly need.

I really really really am going to miss this place so much and hope that we can return soon. Thank you to everyone at Bosinver for making our holiday so magical and the memories we will treasure forever, we hope to see you again soon. And to anyone thinking about booking, donโ€™t hesitate you will not find a better place to stay.”

The King Family

As a family, Mum (Nanny Pat), Dad (Farmer Dave) and I read every single review, comment, and survey that we receive. We take on board all your words of wisdom. Your kind words motivate us, making all of our efforts worthwhile, and inspiring us to make improvements each year so that Bosinver is the best place to stay.

We barely saw a drop of rain for the school summer holidays and with temperatures exceeding 30 degrees it was one to remember. Come September, we were all desperate for the rain โ€“ especially Dad with his famous runner beans and sunflowers!

As things settled down after our October half term โ€˜spooky doโ€™sโ€™, we stepped up our refurb plans. Our focus has been on a full refurbishment of Pentree, which is now looking amazing, a cottage to be really proud of.

We are all about colourful interiors in each of our individually designed cottages. Mum has worked her magic with our interior designer Jess Forbes, to transform Pentree in time for Christmas. We canโ€™t wait to show you what we have done, so be sure to follow our social media channels, to see the first photos. The lounge and bathrooms have been modernised, the bedrooms have been swapped around and the master has a luxury super-king sized bed, perfect for a great nights sleep.

We are very lucky to work with a great team of trusted, local tradesmen to complete our projects. You never see them, but they work their magic and we are very grateful to them. Although Dad and I like to do as much as we can ourselves, their work has been invaluable, helping us to stay on track in time for our first guests to enjoy the new transformation.

If you have stayed at Bosinver you will no doubt have seen the grey โ€˜ Fergieโ€™ tractor pulling a trailer, it has several uses including transporting the pumpkins up to the field for rolling at Halloween. Everything we do tells a story and one of my favourite projects this year was to repair this trailer with Dad.

The trailer was originally towed by horses before being adapted around 1942 to be pulled by the tractor. After years of use, several planks needed replacing and the frame had rusted and snapped.

We used the wood from a fallen Elm tree which we had cut into planks, specifically for this project. We welded up the frame, dusting off our rusty fabrication skills and it is now fit for another 100 years dutiful service!

We also asked a local joiner to make two stunning coffee tables from the Elm planks, which now have pride of place in Pentree and Laburnumโ€™s lounges. Nothing is ever wasted here!

As you can see it has been a busy and brilliant year here at Bosinver and we are looking forward to more exciting escapades.

We will close for spring cleaning and more exciting refurbishments in early January, including the kitchen and downstairs bathroom in Lowen and bathrooms in the Farmhouse, a new floor in the swimming pool, more electric car charging points, to name a few. These and other improvements will see us ready for guests in 2023.

It would be a pleasure to welcome you here in 2023 and I wish you a happy and healthy new year from all of us at Bosinver.

Best wishes,

Paul
