Bosinver’s chosen charity this Christmas

In recent years we have chosen to support local charities instead of sending Christmas cards. Nanny Pat had a chance meeting on the footpath at Trelissick which led to this year’s choice – Emmaus. Emmaus has many communities around the globe and they work with homeless and socially prescribed adults, funded by a network of charity shops and private donations.
That day Rod and Rob from the Emmaus tree nursery were collecting holly berries to grow more trees from the seeds in their nursery at Trewoon, a short drive from Bosinver and they invited Nanny Pat to pop in and take a look around.

Rod, the Manager, is a one man band of dedication and enthusiasm for this project, 30 acres of land overlooking the sea, growing trees and planting wildflower meadows – thus giving meaningful work for clients and in the future being able to sell their plants and trees to fund themselves.

Nanny Pat was bowled over by Rob’s vision, energy and enthusiasm and was motivated to donate to Emmaus to plant native trees in this spot overlooking Bosinver which will surely be a lasting legacy for the future.

Nanny Pat said she’d never visited this little wild corner of St Austell, a few miles from Bosinver, with glorious views over the sea.”
