Bosinver is ideally located for exploring the whole of Cornwall – an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise. Choose from coastal walks, boat rides, surfing, canoeing, paddleboarding, fishing, riding or golf – Cornwall has it all!

From the adventurous to the more sedate there are so many opportunities for fantastic outdoor activities in Cornwall – here’s a few of our favourites:

Surf’s Up!

The renowned North Coast of Cornwall is only half an hour’s drive away from Bosinver – Perranporth, Watergate Bay, Fistral and Polzeath have huge, sweeping sandy beaches and beautiful views.

Whether you’re a novice or a seasoned surfer, there’s a beach to suit you and plenty of places offering surf lessons for children and adults. Try Newquay Activity Centre at Great Western or Fistral beaches, Wavehunters at Watergate Bay, Perranporth Surf School or Harlyn Surf School based near Padstow.

There are plenty more surf schools accredited by Surfing England on their website. For the even more adventurous Harlyn Surf School or Newquay Activity Centre also offer Coasteering!

Stand Up Paddleboarding and Kayaking

Some of the surf schools above also offer Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) although the latter is probably best experienced on the South Coast beaches where conditions are usually calmer than the North Coast.

Encounter Cornwall were recently voted silver in the Cornwall Tourism Award for their Paddle UK – Go Paddling Centre and BSUPA SUP School offering kayak trips, kayak hire & SUP board lessons & tours on the stunning Fowey Estuary.

Award winning Koru Kayaking also offer escorted kayaking sessions from St Agnes on the North coast and from Port Navas on the Helford Estuary.

Canoe Cornwall offer kayak trips from Mevagissey, canoe trips from Trelissick Gardens on the Fal Estuary and they also do archery, bushcraft, axe throwing and paintballing! New for 2024, Jay and his team also offer sit-on kayak hire from St Mawes Kayaks.

Wildlife trips

Based in Falmouth, AK Wildlife Cruises offer fabulous half or full day trips along the south Cornish coast looking for wonderful wildlife including birds, seals, dolphins and even whales!

Get out on the water

Self drive motor boats or rowing boats are another wonderful way to get our on the water. They can be hired from Mylor Boat Hire, Falmouth Boat Hire, Helford River boats (at Helford Passage) and Fowey Boat Hire.

Deep sea fishing

Fancy trying deep sea fishing? We recommend a trip on the Aquila, which leaves from nearby Mevagissey. Skipper/owner Chris has been fishing off the South Coast of Cornwall for years. They provide all rods, tackle and bait.  Call 01579 320848 to find out more.

Treasure Trails Cornwall

Treasure Trails are a great way to keep the kids amused and get the whole family involved. Choose from classic treasure hunt, murder mystery or spy themed trails – get outdoors and have fun!

Horse-riding

There are several riding stables that we recommend:
Trenance Stables in Newquay for wonderful rides on the beach 01637 872699
and for the more experienced rider…
Barguse Riding Centre – nestled in 50 acres of beautiful Cornish countryside with fantastic facilities and home to 28 horses and ponies. Lockengate is just a mile from the A30, between Bodmin and St. Austell. 01208 831817 info@barguse.co.uk

Play golf

There are two excellent local golf clubs that welcome visitors. St Austell Golf Club is literally a stone’s throw away from Bosinver. It’s an 18 hole, 6,042 yard par 69 parkland course with wonderful countryside views which offers a challenge to golfers of all abilities.
Nearby Porthpean Golf Club has an 18 hole, par 68 golf course with beautiful views across St Austell Bay. There’s also a Licenced clubhouse offering light lunches and afternoon teas. Porthpean, St Austell PL26 6AY 01726 64613
