Bosinver- A perfect place for your little animal enthusiasts

If your little ones light up at the sight of a wagging tail or a feathery friend, then Bosinver is the perfect place to stay. Our farm is a haven for animal-loving children- a place where they can get up close and personal with our friendly residents and experience the magic of our farm, first-hand.

Every morning, your little ones can join Farmer Dave for animal feeding time where they handfeed all our chickens, ducks, goats and sheep. There’s nothing quite like seeing the little ones collecting their freshly laid eggs for breakfast!  These hand on moments help your little ones with connect with nature, understand where their food comes fun, all while having lots of fun.

Our much-loved ponies, Crystal and Ginger are always a highlight. Many children’s first experience of riding a pony, happens at Bosinver and it’s a memory they will never forget.

Beyond our farmyard, Bosinver is surrounded by wildlife waiting to be discovered from the comfort and warmth of your cottage. You’ll see rabbits hopping around the fields, squirrels darting from trees. Ask Farmer Dave for a bird feeder and discover all the different birds that are nesting around your cottage. If you’re lucky, you’ll see deer wandering around the area! Explore our woodland walks and wildlife trials, count the butterflies, see our honeybees at work. It’s a gentle way of reminding children to appreciate being outdoors and away from screens.

If you’d like to venture further afield then Cornwall is full of fantastic places to spot wildlife. If sea creatures are your thing, you’re not far from some of the best rock pooling beaches like Porthpean. There are many family friendly sections of the South-West Coastal Path which is an excellent place to spot, seals, dolphins, tuna and even humpback whales!

We recommend a visit to The Cornish Seal Sanctuary in Gweek where you can see rescued seals who are being cared for and rehabilitated to go back to the wild. You can admire the cheeky permanent residents who cannot be released and visit the seal hospital.

Paradise park in Hayle is home to an array of exotic birds including Flamingos, Penguins and Parrots. You can watch the birds being fed and also feed nectar to the parakeets. The bird flying shows are also a must do and meet their new member, baby flamingo, Penelope.

Newquay zoo, in Newquay, is home to lions, meerkats, red pandas and many other fascinating creatures from around the world. The zoo is conveniently located next to a park, so it makes for a great day out.

Mevagissey harbour is a great place to go crabbing. We have all the gear here for you to borrow, all you need is some bait, which we know that Mevagissey crabs love bacon!
