Learn together and get back to the roots of nature

Life at Bosinver is all about taking things right back to nature โ€“ wiggling your toes in the grass, getting to know the creatures and critters that call our farm home too and making the most of the delicious abundance of the land.ย  What better way to do that than a tastebud tickling foraging walk around our 35 acres?ย

What can I expect?

Weโ€™re so lucky to have the fantastic Emma Gunn leading our flavoursome foraging adventures.ย  Sheโ€™ll start by giving you the down low on foraging safely and sustainably before setting off on a walk around the land to find some wild growing delights.ย

Emma really does know her stuff and with decades of experience sheโ€™ll be able to point out any toxic plants to avoid or hidden nasties and lookalikes that you need to be aware of to forage safely.ย  And of course the very best bit is being able to taste all kinds of edible treats along the way!

Do I need to bring anything?

Weโ€™d recommend wearing some comfy shoes. And donโ€™t forget to bring along some scissors and something to carry your finds in if you want to cook up a foraged feast back at your cottage. Emma has some delicious recipes up her sleeves to share with you and youโ€™ll learn all kinds of creative ways to incorporate foraged ingredients into your meals.ย

You really donโ€™t want to miss this incredible experience and the chance to develop your relationship with the natural world, not to mention all the skills and knowledge you can take home with you afterwards.ย  Itโ€™s also a fantastic way to get kids excited about foraging, eating well and cooking from scratch โ€“ pure magic.

A bit about Emma

Expert forager at Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstallโ€™s River Cottage, Emma has been obsessed with plants for as long as she can remember. ย At the age of 14 her interest was piqued when she found a book called โ€˜Wild Foodโ€™ by Roger Phillips at her cousinsโ€™ school fete. On holiday in Cornwall โ€“ her historic family home โ€“ she picked elderflowers with her dad and made cordial for the first time, picked fiddleheads from the hedgerow while walking from Lelant to St Ives, and identified (and munched) sea rocket on the beaches.

Emma is a uniquely driven whirlwind: she conceptualised, researched, wrote, illustrated and photographed every page of Never Mind the Burdocks, a self-published triumph now stocked by the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and River Cottage to name a few.

โ€œNever Mind the Burdocks is a proper treat. Useful and beautiful, thereโ€™s a real treasure in these pages. Tasty, in every way!โ€ – Dawn French
