Brendan Brennan celebrated his 70th birthday this week, and to mark the occasion he and his wife Maureen decided to book a cottage at Bosinver big enough to hold the whole family (and the dog). The couple, from St Ives, Cambridgeshire, chose Jackโs Barn, which is ideal for three generation holidays. Their son and daughter-in-law, and their daughter, son-in-law and young grandson joined them.
But what Brendan didnโt know before they arrived at Bosinver was that Maureen had also booked Rachel from Each Peach Kitchen as their private chef for an extra-special birthday treat. She explained, โI got in touch with Rachel after seeing the information on the website. She helped us work out a menu that I knew Brendan would love, including Beef Wellington (or Boeuf en Croute as itโs often called now) and zesty lemon pots for dessert.โ
The whole family was delighted by the dishes Rachel cooked for them. โIt was wonderful,โ said Brendan. โMy son-in-law went to a fancy hotel with a Michelin starred restaurant recently and he thought the meal Rachel created for us was much better than the one heโd had there.โ
Maureen added, โRachel was extremely professional, not intrusive at all but very friendly and helpful when we asked her advice about the local area.โ
Sadly, we donโt have any photos of the meal to share as the Brennans were enjoying themselves too much to think about taking any pictures! โI should have asked Rachel to take one of all of us,โ Maureen laughed.
Theyโve also taken advantage of everything Bosinver has to offer during their stay. โThe little ladโs done everything!โ they said. From feeding the animals with Farmer Dave (every morning except one) to swimming in the pool, fishing in the lake, exploring the Gruffalo trail or burning off some energy in the play barn, thereโs been plenty to keep him entertained. The grown-ups have enjoyed playing pool, ping pong and swimming as well as exploring the local area.
Sounds like success all round!
