We made it – by the skin of our teeth as usual!!!
Trerose was the last of the self catering holiday cottages in Cornwall that we inherited when we bought Bosinver 12 years ago and it was time for the Pat and Dave treatment!
Beams have been exposed and added, granite now clads the exterior walls of the old barn and interior walls have gone, leaving a roomy, contemporary feel, whilst retaining the features of the original building. Trerose also lacked a dedicated garden area so that has been addressed too, with a private lawned area and patio with plenty of room for barbecues and for children to play outside.
It is always a challenge to decide on the look and feel of the interior and I nearly always start with one item – this year it was a particularly good offer and a floor rug from Designer’s Guild and that set the colour and feel for the rest of the house. We have used all our local craftsmen and suppliers and as always they have done us proud, especially Paul, our builder, Dave the electrician, Steve the plumber and Alan our painter and decorator, who excelled himself with the tiles.
Two families have now experienced staying in the new version and both have been ecstatic about the place – one lady just burst into tears of relief after a long drive from Scotland, worrying that the cottage her husband had booked would not be to her liking!
Here are some photos of the interior – we hope you like them and will come along to try it out for yourself soon! The weather here has been delightful – long hot sunny days and a proper summer at last. Where are you? We still have Jack’s Barn free after a cancellation 3 -10th July. Make us an offer…………….
