5 of our favourite days out in Cornwall with Toddlers


Cornwall has hundreds of family friendly days out to choose from and it can be hard to decide on the best one for toddlers, whilst making sure thereโ€™s still something for any older children you have too.

We encourage our guests to focus on making the most of our Bosinver activities and facilities during your holiday with us and things to do nearby.

Nanny Pat has actually produced a handy guide, โ€˜50 things to do without a carโ€™ which is packed full of family friendly suggestions. You may notice the top 5 days out with toddlers we have suggested are all within a 15 mile radius of Bosinver. We are very lucky to be close to some of the most popular attractions in Cornwall meaning you and the little ones donโ€™t have too long in the car after your long journey to get here!

1. Lappa Valley โ€“ 13 miles from Bosinver

Take a nostalgic train ride from the car park to the secret valley for fun and adventure. Toddlers will be in there element with plenty of open space and family friendly activities to enjoy both outdoors and indoor โ€“ Itโ€™s an ideal place to visit when the Cornish weather canโ€™t make up its mind what itโ€™s doing! Little ones can jump on and off the Woodland railway, take family on a pedalo around the boating lake and let the children let off steam in outdoor play areas. The Newlyn Downs Branch line is a half mile journey to a play park, peaceful picnic spot and even a stream for paddling. The Engine Shed is an indoor multi-level soft play area and a cafรฉ serving hot/cold drinks, sweet treats and light lunches. Opening times vary throughout the year so do check their website before you visit. Family entry is just ยฃ55.50.

2. Lost Gardens of Heligan – 3 miles from Bosinver

Heligan is magical for toddlers with enchanting gardens, woodland walks and farmland to explore. Visit the Wildlife Hide to find out about the array of wildlife and enjoy an intimate view of many feathered friends. Heligan is home to a variety of farm animals there are plenty to see, including pigs, cattle, sheep, horses, goats, and chickens. Be sure to look for the iconic sleeping Mud Maid and for little oneโ€™s steady on their feet, seek out the Burmese Rope Bridge down in the jungle to add a real sense of adventure. Heligan is a natural playground for families, throughout the year they offer seasonal events to inspire and captivate every little one. The family friendly events usually coincide with the school holidays, check out their website for all upcoming events. Family admission for up to 3 children is ยฃ48, tickets can be booked in advance here.

 

3. Kidzworld Adventure Play โ€“ 5 miles from Bosinver

Toddler paradise awaits, with a dedicated under 5s zone with a bouncy castle at Kidz World in Par. Itโ€™s stocked with loads of soft toys, slide and play things its self-contained, safe and secure making it easy for to keep an eye on the young ones while playing.
There is still plenty the children (& early teens) can do with drop slides, ball pools and soft play zone plus a second area just for them with a row of trampolines, roller skating rink, games zone and cannon arena.
The outside play areas open for the main season from Easter and is home to a 12 hole jungle themed mini golf course. You will also find a family dodgems circuit which is great fun for the whole family. Entry fees are based on height: Children under 90cmโ€™s: Free, Children 90-100cm: ยฃ5 and Children over 1m ยฃ6.50.
Itโ€™s worth mentioning the outdoor activities are not included in the admission costs and charged on a pay as you play basis.
Since Covid they have introduced two sessions per day, bookable in advance, that usually run from 10am-1pm and 2pm-5pm. More information can be found on their website.ย 

 

4. Dairyland Farm Park – 10 miles from Bosinver
Dairyland is toddler heaven with plenty of activities both indoors and out, itโ€™s a great all weather attraction. Say hello to the animals in the field, Climb aboard The Ark in the play zone, take a trip around the farm with a tractor ride and bounce on the trampolines plus so much more, there really is so much to choose from. The Bull Pen indoor soft play has slides, ball pit and jump zone is great for release any energy they might have left after exploring all the outside has to offer. At the time of writing this blog Dairy Land are reviewing their 2023 prices, children under 80cm in the past have usually benefitted from free entry. Tickets (dairylandfarmpark.com)

5. Eden Project โ€“ 4 miles from Bosinver
We couldnโ€™t miss this one off the list. The Eden Project is a world famous global garden that sits at the foot of a former clay mine. Take your toddler around the world, connect with nature in the Mediterranean biome before stepping into the worldโ€™s largest rainforest in captivity! Itโ€™s much larger than the other biome with plenty for children (and adults) to discover. The whole site is suitable for pushchairs. There are a few eateries serving anything from beverages and ice creams, to Cornish Pasties and light bites. Picnics are very welcome with several designated picnic areas dotted around. Like with most attractions, toddlers (under 5โ€™s) are free, whilst an adult ticket starts at ยฃ32.50. During February half term, kids go free with each paying adult, so be sure to check that out if you are visiting the area soon.
