A family friendly walk on the Roseland Peninsula

Porthcurnick beach in Cornwall

This lovely linear walk along the coast path on the Roseland Peninsula is pretty level and easy and a lovely walk to do with the kids when you are on holiday down here in Cornwall.

The walk starts at the National Trust car park above Carne beach and is about four miles or two hours long.

If you are doing the linear walk with one car or would like a day out without your own car, you can book a taxi back to the start at Roseland taxis. You can find more information about public transport on the Roseland Peninsula here: www.stmawesandtheroseland.co.uk/useful-information/transport/

My friend Kelly and I started at the car park and turned right towards the fabulous Nare Hotel. I love just popping in here for a cream tea or sandwich lunch in their conservatory restaurant overlooking the beach and maybe an ideal reward after you have completed this walk! It’s dog friendly and family friendly and the beach is lovely if you want to stop off.

The coast path cuts across the back of the Nare car park and then heads westwards over easy terrain with glorious views back towards Nare Head and onward to Portscatho and the glorious sweep of Gerrans Bay. I stopped at the National Trust beach at Pednvadan for a moment to give my friend Kelly’s dog Pepper a swim.

This is a lovely beach but there was a bit of litter, so I proceeded to collect all the rubbish to carry home for recycling. There was a giant rope too but it took both of us to drag it above the high tide line and hopefully to be collected by the wonderful NT Beach Rangers who patrol this coastline.

We carried onย across the beachย back to the car, passing the Hidden Hut Cafe Hidden amongst the dunes above Porthcurnick beach and well worth visiting if you are here in the summer.

The walk was easy and took us two hours with a lunch stop. I hope you get the chance to enjoy it soon too.
