Always keen to find a new venue for a catch up with friends, I sampled the delights of the sixth Laura Ashley Tea Room in the country which has recently opened at The Cornwall Hotel.
The Cornwall is a relaxing venue for meeting friends, with a delightful sunny terrace and lawns overlooking a lake. The Tea Room is operated as a franchise with the Laura Ashley company. It is decorated in true Laura Ashley style, elegant and chintzy with crisp white table linen and fine bone china. Doors and windows open onto the terrace, making it a light, airy space.
We met at lunchtime and ordered the afternoon tea for two people. This included finger sandwiches, a selection of mini cakes, a lemon posset and two scones with jam and cream. It arrived beautifully presented on a bespoke serving tray, accompanied by real leaf tea in china teapot. โProper Jobโ my Cornish friends would say!
Everything was delicious! There was far too much for us soย they gave us a pretty cardboard carrying box to take some home for later.
There are several options on the menu, including a savoury tea and a gluten free or vegan option.
I would definitely recommend a visit. It would be perfect for families with young children who could romp about on the lawn whilst the grown ups were relaxing and chatting in the tea room.

The Cornwall Hotel is just down the road from Bosinver on the St Austell to Mevagissey road. It’s approximate 7-8 minutes’ drive, or a short cycle ride. Postcode for satnavs:ย PL26 7AB.
