I am always intrigued when new foodie places appear out of nowhere and as soon as time allows I have to go and give them a try. Linden Hey Garden Tearoom is on my well travelled route to the National Trust Trelissick Gardens where I love to walk and admire the creek views.
The tea room is run by Nina Davey and her daughter Davina from their home and lovely garden about a mile from Trelissick. It is close to some beautiful walks along lanes, fields and riverside creeks taking in such beautiful spots as Coombe, Cowlands Creek and Roundwood Quay.
The tea room opened at Easter 2017 and has been busy from the start. Nina has a reputation for being a fine cook in the local community and her daughter Davinia has obviously inherited her skills. The tea rooms occupy the garden and a large conservatory off Nina’s kitchen where she whips up some beautiful cakes, soup and all day light bites.
The welcome was warm and the Lavazza coffee was divine. I was surrounded by tempting cakes but resisted, just succumbing to a toasted tea cake, earned after my 5 mile hike around Trelissick. The welcome was warm and friendly, the cafe was busy and I loved sitting in the garden chatting to a fellow cyclist. I thoroughly recommend popping in if you are down this way.
Linden Hey Garden Tearoom is situated at Penelewey, just off the A39 Truro to Falmouth road, turning left at the Playing Place roundabout, heading for Feock and Trelissick TR3 6QU on the B3299. Just after the Punchbowl and Ladle pub, look for their sign on the left and turn in the drive to find parking spaces inside the garden. There is even a bus stop outside (so rare in the Cornwall countryside) Open 10am to 4pm every day. Details can be found on Facebook at https://www.facebook. com/lindenheytea
