Explore. Inspire. Learn.
A holiday in Cornwall offers a huge variety of opportunities for experiential learning. If you’re home educating your children, there are lots of ways to explore and learn both here at Bosinver and nearby, so you can easily plan a holiday that meets the needs of the whole family.
Bosinver has been owned and run by Pat and Dave Smith since 1998 (read more about our story here). Everything we do has been designed with families in mind – and put to the test by our children and grandchildren. When it comes to education, there’s potential inspiration around every corner at Bosinver. Fancy learning more about the environment? Take a look at our solar-heated pool and investigate the renewable technologies we’ve used in our straw bale eco-house, Lowen. Or why not sign up for a foraging workshop to discover just how many edible delights are growing in our hedgerows and fields?
A paradise for adventurous and inquisitive kids
We know how important it is to have a balance between education and fun. And sometimes, the best discoveries are the ones kids make on their own. At Bosinver we have over 30 acres to explore. While they can roam to their hearts’ content, you can relax knowing they’re knowing they’re safe on our farm.
Outdoor play at Bosinver
We believe outdoor play is really important – whatever age you are! We’re lucky enough to have our own woodland, lake and fields to play in right here, and we want to encourage everyone who stays with us to get creative, get muddy, and experience nature first hand.
Our Wild Kids club gives children the chance to explore the woods, learn more about the creatures that live there and try out nature-based crafts with our own Forest School leader, Tatum.
Ignite your children’s imagination and inspire their passion for learning
There’s a wealth of history to uncover and a range of different environments to investigate in Cornwall. And Bosinver’s location makes it a great place from which to explore the whole of Cornwall. For example, you could:
- Step back into the past at Chyauster Ancient Village and learn how people lived in the Iron Age.
- Visit Geevor Tin Mine and discover what life was like underground in a real 18th century tin mine.
- Take a trip to the National Maritime Museum Falmouth and find out about Cornwall’s seafaring heritage.
- Explore the seashore and get up close and personal with some of Cornwall’s wildlife – from rock pool creatures to seals. And for more ideas for great child-friendly days out in Cornwall, download our free ebook, Nanny Pat’s Adventures.
