Top 5 activities for group celebrations

There’s so much you can do in Cornwall. Here are some of our top ideas for group activities that everyone can enjoy doing together.

1. Go on a wildlife spotting cruise

What could be more memorable than watching a pod of dolphins leaping through the air beside your boat as the sun glints off the water? AK Wildlife Cruises are based in Falmouth and offer half or full day wildlife watching trips along the south Cornish coast. Seals, dolphins and a variety of sea birds are frequently spotted, and if you’re really lucky, you might just spot a whale!

2. Take a trip down the Fal River

Take a trip on an Enterprise boat from Truro to Falmouth and relax while you soak up the views in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You’ll pass iconic maritime locations, historic houses and landmarks. Falmouth is the third deepest natural harbour in the world, and the docks are still very active, with all sorts of ships and boats coming and going throughout the day. The twin castles of Pendennis and St Mawes overlook the mouth of the estuary. Built by Henry VIII to defend the against the threat of an attack by Spain, they’re even more impressive when seen from the water.

Snacks, hot refreshments and toilets are available on board and there is also an informative commentary from the boat’s skipper. Four legged friends on leads are welcome.

3. Tempt your tastebuds at Camel Valley Vineyard

What better way to spend an afternoon than sampling some of Camel Valley’s award-winning wines on the terrace while soaking up the late afternoon sunshine? Sign up for a tour and for the chance to see behind the scenes find out how the Lindo family make their renowned wines.

4. Enjoy an extra special dining experience

If you’re celebrating a special occasion (or if you just feel like treating yourselves), there’s a smorgasboard of options to choose from, many in spectacular locations – like Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant in Padstow and Jamie Oliver’s 15 Cornwall, which overlooks the breathtaking expanse of Watergate Bay.
