Staying with toddlers

A whole world of magic awaits!

Outside of those busy, bustling school holidays, Bosinver becomes a wonderland for the littlest ones! A place for toddlers to run as wild and free as they fancy.  Prepare to make a whole load of core family memories from the moment you step onto the farm – from first dips in our heated pool to first pony rides to first ‘cock-a-doodle-doos’ with Farmer Dave.  We can’t wait for you to discover Bosinver!

A few things for you to know

Our cottage gardens aren’t fenced, but they are private and generally not overlooked. There is a lake on site, right at the bottom of the farm and well away from the cottages, so it’s not something you’ll come across near where you’re staying — but as with any working farm, we’d always say keep a close eye on crawling babies and toddlers when they’re outdoors.

Our chickens, ducks, goats and sheep are all very used to visitors, and feeding takes place under Farmer Dave’s watchful eye each morning. We don’t allow guests to feed the horses, as it can lead to them pestering people for food and even make them ill.

We can provide a travel cot, stair gates, bed guards, a booster seat and a high chair — just request these when you book online. We also have buggies, blackout blinds and potties to borrow, plus splash suits and wellies in every size from our green shed near the washing line, ready for exploring the farm.

Yes — our indoor pool is heated to around 29°C, with a level depth of 1.2m and a few steps with a handrail, making it easy to manage for young children with an adult close by.

Yes, both are available on request when you book. Cottage layouts do vary — some are single-storey — so do let us know if a particular layout would suit your toddler best.

There’s plenty right on the doorstep: outdoor play areas with swings, a slide, sandpit, Wendy house and trampoline, a heated indoor pool, and 30 acres of farmland and woodland to explore. Toddlers are very welcome to join morning animal feeding with Farmer Dave (every day except Saturday) and to visit the chickens, ducks, goats and sheep at any other time too.

They can! Our youngest pony riders are usually around 18 months old, as long as they can sit up unaided and wear a small helmet. Rides usually run Monday, Tuesday and Thursday mornings after animal feeding, weather permitting. Our free Wild Kids Forest School session on Monday afternoons is tailored to whichever ages are staying that week too, so toddlers are very much included alongside the older kids.

Yes, toddlers are very welcome at our 9.30am animal feeding sessions (except Saturdays), and can feed the chickens and ducks crushed digestive biscuits or cornflakes (no bread) at other times too. We don’t allow feeding the horses, just to stop them picking up any bad habits.

We do — our little grey shed by reception is full of buckets, spades, body boards, fishing nets and crab lines, all free to borrow for trips to the coast. Just remember to give it a rinse before bringing it back!

Yes — our Play Barn, near Pentree Cottage, is a converted granite barn filled with soft play equipment, including tubes to crawl through, a whirly slide, a spinning disc and Little Tikes bikes, plus a sofa for the grown-ups to put their feet up on. It’s perfect for rainy days or burning off a bit of extra energy before bed, and is closed daily for cleaning between 8.30 and 9.30am.

Your Cottage

Whether your sleep routine is established or there’s still a little room for improvement, our beautifully designed cottages are the ultimate home from home full of every luxury to recreate your home routines! Not to mention we’ve got all the gear you need to keep the tiniest babes safe and happy from bed rails and cots to high chairs and stair gates.  Check out the list of available baby equipment. Each cottage also has a toy box full of fun for kids of all ages.

Swimming Pool

Our indoor pool is heated to just the right temperature for your little ones to practice their splash in. We offer open swimming sessions for all guests as well as the opportunity for every cottage to book the pool for private use for an hour a day. Perfect if your very tiny ones are just gaining some confidence in the water.

Animal Feeding

Even the very tiniest ones love animal feeding with Farmer Dave, it’s colourful, noisy and oh so lively: the perfect wake up call! Whether you’re chasing the ducks around or digging those tiny fingers into woolly coats, there’s something wonderful for every babe to try!   Cameras at the ready, first animal encounters are magic!

pony rides

Our wonderfully gentle ponies are the perfect companions for a tour around Bosinver.  Whether their very first pony experience or they’re seasoned riders, your little ones are in safe hands with Paul or Lucy and our gorgeous horses. Riding sessions are on certain days of the week after all the animals have been fed!

getting outdoors

It’s no secret that we believe the best childhoods are those spent outdoors – running, playing, splashing, frolicking and rolling around.  We’ve got 30 acres of countryside just ready and waiting to be discovered.  You’ll find plenty of trails (keep an eye out for the Gruffalo) and we’ve got loads of great outdoor play spots.

indoor softplay

We’ve been here a long time now, we know how to deal with the rain! Of course, if you fancy sticking your wellies on and going for a splash, there’s plenty of space for that.  If not, there’s always something to enjoy here.  Our indoor soft play is packed full of fun with toys and games galore, the perfect spot to burn off some rainy day energy!
