My latest collection of walks from Bosinver

Stan on a walk near Bosinver

For me, like many of us, the last year has been particularly hard. I’ve tried to stay positive and one thing that has helped me cope has been getting outdoors every day discovering new walks on my doorstep with my puppy Stan.

I am fortunate to live in a beautiful place in the countryside and close to the coast so have felt extremely lucky during lockdowns to be able to exercise from my door. I’ve always loved walking, as those of you who followed my adventure around the Cornish coast path a couple of years ago will know.

Walk along the old mining trail

Regular visitors may have come across some of the walks with maps in the area that you can pick up at reception. This year I’ve extended the collection to include ones starting from your cottage door, complete with photos, mileage and route descriptions.

So, the fruits of my labours are now here to share with all of you, whether you are visiting, or whether you live locally and want to use these guides to explore our area.

I’ve taken photos and rechecked the routes and we have nine lovely walks (or runs, or cycle rides), with maps and written guides which have photos at each key point of the walk.

You can download them here:

Walk 1: Gentle walk and dog exercise around Polgooth (suitable for dog walks)

Walk 2: A circular walk/jog to Nanphysick Farm and Sticker (suitable for dog walks and running)

Walk 3: South Polgooth (suitable for dog walks and running)

Walk 4: A circular walk via Trelowth, and Little Polgooth (suitable for running)

Walk 5: Bosinver – Sticker Five Turnings – Polgooth – Bosinver (suitable for dog walks)

Walk 6: Bosinver – Trelowth Polgooth – Bosinver (suitable for a walk or a run, mostly hard surface)

Walk 7: Cycle / Run – Sticker – Heligan Mevagissey – Pentewan – Polgooth – Bosinver (suitable for running or cycling)

Walk 8: Bosinver to Pentewan (suitable for dog walks and running, mostly off-road)

Walk 9: Trelowth, Miners trail to S Polgooth mine Little Polgooth, Polgooth Inn (suitable for walks or running)

There is something for everyone, with some routes suitable for dog walking, buggies and cycle rides, some short, easy walks, a few longer routes which the more active might like to use as running trails.  And you can discover not only the ‘hot spots’ such as Pentewan beach and the more well trodden paths, but some of the places I love to explore which are a little more hidden and tucked away. There are walks around the old mining trails, for example.

I hope that you enjoy these as much as I have enjoyed walking them. I’d love to hear about your walks around Cornwall and the Bosinver area too.
